Seasoned hoteliers Ian & Christa Taylor are credited with bringing a new lease of life to the independent hotel scene in Bath. Their latest acquisition, Homewood – which joins No.15 Great Pulteney and The Bird, Bath – is one of their most ambitious projects yet.

“There's so much potential in this site,” says Ian Taylor of Homewood. “Since we purchased the property at the beginning of August, there’s already been a lot of change and improvements made. We love the idea of putting our own stamp on the property and really being able to turn it around. With its leafy location, history of the house and its original features, we hope to create something very special here.
“Homewood offers us an opportunity to create a truly luxury boutique country property and to do something different to what everybody else is doing locally. We want to be a real part of the local community, and to be as much a place for locals to drop in for a great spa treatment, afternoon tea or dinner, as it is as a relaxing home from home for our overnight guests. We also want to make sure that Homewood comes across as relaxed and informal but still delivers fantastic levels of service, so we’re much more focused on doing what’s right for the guest, as opposed to adhering to certain industry norms.
“As with every Kaleidoscope property, we want Homewood to offer the experience of being in a relaxed informal environment, while still having all the touches you would expect of a luxury hotel. Individual pieces of statement art, beautiful chandeliers and lighting which you can tailor to suit your mood will be a big part of its new personality.”
