What is EFT?
Emotional Freedom Technique (or EFT) is a non-invasive, easy to learn tapping therapy which can be self-applied or used on others. When being used in a therapeutic manner, it should be administered by a competently trained EFT Practitioner in regular supervision. It is becoming a very popular intervention for a range of psychological and physical issues and widely accepted in clinical settings.
You may hear EFT being referred to as ‘meridian therapy’, ‘tapping therapy’ or ‘energy psychology’. It is often described as being similar to acupuncture but instead of using needles, the meridian points are gently tapped with the fingertips. EFT is a relatively new branch of complementary therapy that also utilises the mind/body energy system to bring about positive changes in emotions, thoughts and behaviours.
About Rachel
Rachel Stacey-McKay is a therapist, mentor, and mother of four, navigating life with a neurodiverse family, a beloved dog, and a supportive partner. Her blended home is full of energy, emotion, and heart — and it’s from this rich lived experience that her work is deeply rooted.
Having journeyed through single parenthood, divorce, and the complexities of raising children in a world that isn’t always kind to difference, Rachel brings a grounded and authentic perspective to her practice. As a neurodiverse woman raising neurodiverse children, she holds a deep, personal understanding of emotional overwhelm, resilience, and the transformative power of support — not only through professional training, but through lived experience.
Before becoming a therapist, Rachel worked in education as a secondary school teacher, primary SENCO, and safeguarding lead. During this time, she witnessed firsthand how families, children, and staff often needed more than policies and curricula — they needed emotional tools, nurturing spaces, and someone to truly listen.
Her Approach
At the heart of Rachel’s work lies a belief in emotional intelligence and self-awareness as the keys to lasting wellbeing. Her approach is holistic, nurturing, and gently empowering — always tailored to the individual or group in front of her.
She currently works across four main areas:
-
One-to-One Support for Adults
Rachel offers bespoke sessions combining EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), coaching, mentoring, and therapeutic tools. These sessions support clients through anxiety, overwhelm, identity shifts, trauma, and emotional blocks — always delivered with empathy, attuned pacing, and practical tools for forward movement. -
Workshops, Groups & Practitioner Trainings
From monthly EFT Circles to comprehensive training for aspiring EFT Practitioners, Rachel holds warm, welcoming spaces for learning and healing. Her group work weaves together tapping, mindfulness, coaching, colour therapy, and heart-led connection. -
Supporting Children & Young People
Rachel works with children and teens to nurture emotional literacy, confidence, and resilience. Using trauma-informed, playful approaches — especially EFT — she helps young people process emotions and feel more in control of their inner world. She also partners closely with parents and carers to extend this support into the home. -
Wellbeing in Schools, Workplaces & Community Settings
Rachel collaborates with schools, organisations, and wellness venues to embed emotional wellbeing into everyday environments. From EFT in classrooms and mental health workshops in the workplace to community events in calming, beautiful spaces — she co-creates experiences that are grounding, empowering, and meaningful.
Rachel’s mission is to walk alongside those she works with — whether parent, practitioner, teacher, teen, or anyone simply seeking a soft place to land. Through her sessions, teachings, and collaborations, she helps others reconnect with themselves, build emotional resilience, and feel supported in the moments that matter most.
